Dr. Seema Tahir
Founder & Academic Director
Dr. Seema Tahir is an Islamic scholar, educator, and researcher with over a decade of experience in higher education in Pakistan, and is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. She is committed to making authentic Islamic scholarship accessible through academic excellence, innovative teaching, and responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence into teaching, learning, and academic research.
Through the Dr. Seema Tahir Institute, she teaches Islamic Studies and the Arabic language, drawing on both classical scholarship and modern research tools.
Academic credentials
Doctorate:PhD in Islamic Studies, specialising in Hadith Sciences — International Islamic University, Islamabad. Preceded by an MS in the same field and a BA (Hons) in Uṣūl al-Dīn from the same institution.
Ijāzah in ḥadīth:Granted by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yaqub Muhammad Yusuf al-Dehlawi, Instructor at the College of the Prophet’s Mosque, Madinah.
Qur’an:Ḥāfiẓah — Wifāq al-Madāris al-ʿArabiyyah, Pakistan.
University Teaching:Over ten years. Visiting Assistant Professor, International Islamic University, Islamabad. Lecturer at HITEC University and Visiting Lecturer at Quaid-e-Azam University. Former Lecturer, Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab, Pakistan.
Research:Published in Al-Basirah and AL-MAQASID. Doctoral dissertation: a critical study of the defective ḥadīths in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ of Imam al-Ṭabarānī, narrations 8501–9000, deposited on Zenodo, alongside an earlier study of the narrations on the signs of the Hour in the four Sunan collections. Current work addresses sacred space in Islamic thought and computational methods for historical Arabic manuscripts.
Digital humanities:Arabic Manuscript OCR–NLP pipeline (2026) — an end-to-end system for extracting and cleaning text from historical Arabic manuscripts, built in Python and published on GitHub. The same discipline underlies the Institute’s curricula, where every Qur’anic citation was verified programmatically against the complete text.
